We’ve seen the pictures at Mardi Gras time of brave New Orleans struggling to get back on its feet from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. But here’s one aspect of the recovery effort that might not have come immediately to mind — The New Orleans Public Library is asking for donations of hardcover and paperback books for people of all ages, as well as financial support of their effort to rebuild and restore services to their communities.
Books for donation to the library will be assessed by the staff, and whatever titles are not required to restock the library shelves will be shared with destitute families or used for fundraising purposes.
Books may be sent to:
Rica A. Trigs, Public Relations
New Orleans Public Library
219 Loyola Avenue
New Orleans, LA 70112
More information is available at the New Orleans Public Library website, nutrias.org.
