Decoupage Thrift-Store Table

DIY decoupage tarot card tableIf I ever get around to taking a decent picture, I’ll show you the over-the-top decoupage treatment I did on The World’s Ugliest End Table…

In the meantime, here’s a fabulous purple creation made by Trystan Bass, the Gothic Martha Stewart. She gives the “before, during and after” for doing a DIY decoupage table, using tarot cards for the images.

For my own decoupaged end table, I cut up a few old calendars and greeting cards. You could even use photo-copied images or holiday snapshots, whatever tickles your fancy…

And the beauty is, decoupage is a cheap and easy make-over for even a first-time crafter. If you’ve got an ugly old furniture piece, odds are it can be redeemed.  Prep the surface, glue down the paper images, and brush on a coat of your decoupage goop (a basic craft shop or DIY centre item).

That’s basically all there is to it — the true art lies in your design. Keep it light-hearted and whimsical, for the first time round, and you really can’t go wrong!
