Oh, those colors! The playful elegance of the designs! The whimsical charm!
Truly, I haven’t been this excited about a new home furnishings site in quite a while — but Stray Dog Designs makes me want to rip out everything in the house (except maybe for a few heirlooms and objects with sentimental value) and start decorating all over again from scratch!
This site is a great source of decorating inspiration, too, even if you’re not in a place to do a whole lot of serious furniture shopping right now. (Might not hurt to have a little word with Santa Claus, though!)
On top of the wonderful whimsy of the products here, I very much like the company philosophy as expressed in the quirky Stray Dogma statement, which says in part:
We design home decor that says, “Sit. Stay.”…Your home isn’t your castle. Castles are cold and forbidding. Your home is family…
You have a distinct personality. Shouldn’t your rooms?
Artists think differently. Different is good. Cookie cutters are for cookies, not furniture.
Small companies and hand made objects matter… People should be paid a fair, living wages, wherever they live, whatever they do. A company that gives back grows a soul…
The furnishings, ornaments, and accessories are interesting and different — I think it’s fair to call them “unique” (a word that’s been badly abused and devalued in recent years, by the way) — and above all, happy. Isn’t that what we want most for the place that we live?
Let’s tag this, oh, Home Decor | Fair Trade.

I find myself really attracted to vibrant colours - not necessarily bright colours, not all the time, but those that have a certain clarity. Not a huge fan of taupe, you might say!
