Here’s a great quick idea for a kid’s birthday cake — a Building Block Cake, spotted on the Betty Crocker website.
Just cut a basic single-layer cake into squares and rectangles, then frost the blocks in bright colours.
The secret to the LEGO effect? Too easy — those are slices of marshmallows, under the frosting!

Okay, I don’t bake, but I’m going to have to try to make one of these…just to play with.
My birthday in two weeks… I hope someone bake me this cake!
Im so thrilled with this idea! I made this cake for my sons Lego Bionicle themed party and he and his friends thought I was the coolest mom ever. Thank you so very much.
We just can’t go wrong with LEGO for any age, it seems!
@Jen – You definetely can’t. In fact I tried to bake this cake for my birthday in November, but I messed it all. It was awful. It tasted good, though.
This year I must try it again and succeed.
It’’s true, I made my brother this cake and he and his friends loved it, it was his 21st birthday : )
