Haba Na Haba was created as a way to help young Tanzanian teens who often find themselves homeless and without hope for school, jobs or training. Its products are primarily produced by small women-owned businesses in Tanzania that train young adult AIDS orphans in sewing skills — gotta like that.
Appropriately, Haba na haba, hujaza kibaba is a Swahili proverb that translates to “Little by little, fills the pot.”
Haba Na Haba sells pillow covers that are silkscreened and embroidered Tanzanian cotton featuring contemporary designs based on traditional East African patterns and style, including a variety of zebra, cheetah, and giraffe patterns. Retail priced at $27.95 each, available online at www.habanahaba.com.
I especially like this zebra butt pillow cover, silkscreened on a white-on-white checkerboard pattern cotton.
