Time and again, I find myself drawn to the work of certain designers. There’s just something about the treatment of materials, the strength of the lines, the choice of colours…
And one of those “compatible designers” for me, indisputably, is style guru Tracy Porter.
Tracy Porter is known for her unique approach to home decorating (which got her featured on Oprah, no less!), with lots of emphasis on personal style — and one of her own “signature style moves” was inspired by her beautiful chandelier collection.
Now, when you hear the word chandeliers, don’t go thinking about stuffy old-fashioned fixtures hanging in ultra-formal reception rooms!
Porter offers some of the most original chandelier designs on the market, the likes of which you’ll never see in the local home-lighting showroom.
Not only that — she has the confident style sense to use them in the most unexpected places!
- Over Your Bathtub: Who says bathrooms must be purely utilitarian? Your bathroom should be a relaxing sanctuary. What better way to add luxury to a bubble bath than with a beautiful chandelier?
- In a Nursery or Child’s Room: Talk about the ultimate baby mobile! Plastic mobiles are fun and child friendly, but a chandelier is an attention getter for a child. It also adds sophistication to a home being over run with toys. Think of the stroller Ellen Degeneres gave Melania Trump — it had an adorable and fun mini chandelier instead of the baby mobile. Tres chic!
The Hallway: Hallways are not throw-away rooms. For a dramatic effect, hang multiple chandlers in row. Your hall will lead the way to each stylish room rather than just serving as a gateway.
- In the Kitchen: Hate doing dishes? Who doesn’t? But an elegant chandelier over the sink might just make chores a little more bearable.
On the Porch: Why save chandeliers for the foyer? Nothing says welcome to my glamorous home like a chandelier right on the front porch. What a way to give a lasting first impression. Make sure the one you select is weather proof and can last outdoors.
Tracy Porter’s line is sold in Barneys, Neiman Marcus, and Target, but you can find her best selection of items for home (including that fabulous selection of
chandeliers) online at TracyPorter.com.
