Never lose another needle! Sewing needles are kept safe inside a little felt house (925studio) that flips open at the roof line.
I’d love to know the origin of the house-shape for a needle keeper — my grandmother had one that was very much like this, but some vague memory makes me think the concept must go back to Victorian times, at least.
But maybe I’ve just read too many mystery novels set in the 1800s, with dour chatelaines rustling about the house with bunches of keys at their waist, and young ladies mincing into the parlour to take up their handiwork…?
Still, I’ll bet that my grandmother wasn’t the only one who had a house-shaped felt needle keeper tucked into her sewing box.
