New Life for Old Door Knobs

by domestika on June 27, 2007

Wall-mounted hooks and hangers are practically essential for any space that’s tight on space, so I’m always on the look-out for a clever new idea. And here’s one now, spotted at Gaiam —

Antique porcelain door knobs are mounted on sections of reclaimed barn boards. Each piece is unique, hand-finished with an artful white weathered-paint treatment.

No pointy bits to snag clothes or poke into your soft spots in the dark, and the simple elegance of porcelain fits in any decor scheme. And the fact that these hangers give a new use to salvaged building materials is just a beautiful bonus.

And isn’t that wall colour also gorgeous?

That is beautiful. I have to add it to my idea book!
