In my dreams, the walls of this old house are made over all creamy-smooth with a fresh coat of traditional plaster. But my wildest renovation dreams can never come close to the artistry of the versatile Steve Selos.
If plaster relief is something of a lost art form, it looks to me like Selos has found it, brought it back, and written his name all over it.
Steve Selos transforms ceilings, walls and fireplaces into works of Art with his mastery of Plaster Relief, a centuries-old art form found primarily in Europe, which combines painting, sculpture and design into both classic and contemporary art for the home or commercial environment.
Read about the plaster relief revival and browse the Selos gallery of interior design coups at www.selosart.com. It’s all quite fascinating — the basic process is much the same as that used by plaster craftsmen centuries ago, but clearly Selos has moved beyond the traditional applications of plaster artistry to develop an astonishing range of techniques that take my breath away —
Far too elegant for my humble farmhouse to aspire to, of course, but like any work of art, this high-end custom plaster work is a joy to view and an inspiration.
