Seven Not-So-Random Things

by Domestik Goddess on December 4, 2007

Originally posted 18 June 2007, but I’ve updated for a new round of tag…
Uhm, that’s not cheating, is it?

Neena (A Mom’s Life) and Julie (De-Clutter It) have tagged me to play the “Seven Random Things About Me” game with them. Updated — and Silly Go Lucky Josey, too!

The Rules: Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to write their own blog post with their 7 things as well as these rules. You need to tag 7 others and list their names on your blog. Remember to leave a comment for them letting them know they have been tagged and to read your blog.

Jen again Random??

My parents claim that I was a “difficult child” right from the moment of birth, and it could be true. I do seem to have a little problem with following the rules! And if you’ve been reading here for a while, you’ll know I’ve got a thing for themes

So here are Seven Not-So-Random Things about your friendly neighbourhood Domestik Goddess:

  1. I once spent the night in a canoe. (Can’t you tell that I’m a Canadian?) It was tied to a tree on the riverbank at the time, so not so much of the drifting downriver like Baby Moses in the baskets of reeds or anything.
  2. I once spent the night star-watching on Ben Nevis: more mist than stars, but it was lovely all the same.
  3. I once spent the night on the 26th floor of an office building under construction.
  4. I once spent the night in a tent in a snowdrift — and I’m not doing that again, thank you very much! The winter camping trip was planned, but the blizzard was a surprise to both me and the Weather Service.
  5. I once spent the night underneath a bus. (This is another hardy Canadian taking-shelter-in-a-snowstorm story.)
  6. I once spent the night in a gypsy camp, somewhere near the English-Welsh border.
  7. I once spent the night not-sleeping on the not-wide-enough granite base of a peculiar modern sculpture in a city park. Because all of the park benches were already occupied. And it was a whole different decade…

And here are the bloggers I tagged in the first go-round…

  1. Dad2Twins
  2. The Eye
  3. Silken
  4. Graham of Random Ramblings
  5. Mike Slack, the Absent Minded professor
  6. The Redhead, and
  7. Jenn of Jennerosity Land

I’ll spare them the angst of further self-revelation… in fact, I’m going to chicken out and not tag anyone in particular — there’s that rule-bending again! — but if you have a hankering to pick up the torch and spill the beans, yourself, please do consider yourself soundly tagged!

I love that you bent the rules! Let’s see…I have a question: Did you say tied to a tree? Oh come on, you can’t leave us hanging with that bit of info and not give us more details!! Unless it’s kinky and then you can just leave that one alone. :)

Your list made me laugh out loud. You also tagged some blogs that I must visit. Thanks for playing!!

Jen, I love the site, the design and the pink girlie look! It’s amazing. Yeap… this was a random comment: my first on your new site. Are you going to keep the old one too?

So… how was that gipsy experience? And you really have to give us something about that night under the bus. What on earth were you doing there? Wasn’t it dangerous?

Jen,
I have blog envy! This site looks great. Thanks for playing along with the meme. Your life is definitely more exciting than mine. I once spent the night at home in my room…..every night. Oh well.

Now, now, you girls know that anything is more interesting when there’s a bit of mystery to it! ;-)

Booo! :)

thanks for the tag. will try to get it together, but I am MUCH more boring than you! :)

7 domestika 06.19.07 at 7:23 pm

Silken, you are no such thing as remotely boring, girl!
Much like home decor (or foundation garments and make-up, for that matter!), Life is all in how it’s presented…

Jen,
Will endeavour to do justice to the occasion, don’t know why, maybe it’s the bending of the rules part. ( Bending is OK, it’s the breaking that causes problems)Can’t guarentee the 7 I should tag, doubt if I have 7 return readers.
Will publish during the day and link to you, I assume that is how it works, if not, orientate me.
Regards
Graham Slater

Graham, your Seven Things are sooooooo beyond entertaining, you leave me in the dust, drooling with envy! Congratulations on having survived your Rio adventure, and also that scary time in Bankok — but now I’m dying to know the story of that piano bar in Buenos Aires!! Thanks so much for playing along — don’t think this game has a winner, but I may have to nominate you for MVP!

Hmm, this meme gets around fast. Love your things, Jen. I should be posting mine sometime today, having been tagged by one of Silken’s taggees.
