Sew a Sparkling Fabric Box

by Domestik Goddess on July 28, 2007

embellished fabric treasure boxOh, look! Here’s another free sewing pattern — and this one, from Quillting Arts, is really something unique!

It’s a little fabric treasure box, inspired by the sparkling gilt-and-mosaic temples of Thailand. The sewing itself is very simple — but then you can go wild with embellishments! Beads and glitter and ribbons and any other sparkling pretties you might want to use to decorate it up…

The basic shape of the fabric box is a cross or a four-petalled flower with slits in two of the arms or petals. To assemble your Little Treasure box, just fold up the two solid petals, then fold up one slit petal at a time and tuck the ends through. Brilliant!
