I'm also glad to hear that you were able to use my dog boots pattern to get Storm fitted back up with winter footwear. Sounds like your Basenji and my Greyhound wear pretty much the same kind of collar, which of course makes a problem for a slip-on dog collar cover, since it doesn't unfasten to open up flat... Velcro is the best I've been able to come up with for a collar cover - it folds over the collar instead of slipping on, and then the velcro holds the two halves together (don't know if that's clear? It's a bit like <a href="http://www.coconutretriever.com/collar_covers.htm" rel="nofollow">this one</a>) but I'm not really happy with that solution because the velcro makes it just a bit too bulky. Another way to go might be with vertical strips of velcro (sort of like <a href="http://www.cozycritter.com/prongcovers.htm" rel="nofollow">this idea</a>, which is a collar made to cover a prong collar - and don't get me started on those horrid things!) but I haven't tried that method yet. Casey's martingale collars are starting to show their age, and it would be nice for him to be able to "dress up" a bit when we go somewhere special... Let me know if you come up with anything? I have lots of fleece scraps so we used your pattern to cut out 5 new ones but while I was looking at your instructions, I noticed your collar cover. I had been thinking of something on this line (my basenji has a 'houdini' like most sighthounds so I make slip over the head safety choke collars for her as well and wondered if you had perfected your cover? Velcro?
