Shave the Earth

Anyone who’s been paying a bit of attention even since recycling went mainstream will know that disposable products are bad bad bad for the environment…

The EPA estimates that over 2 billion disposable razors are landfilled annually in the United States. That’s 2 million pounds of virgin plastics, used once and tossed away.

But, let’s be honest, how many of us can say we don’t have a cute little pink plastic razor tucked away somewhere?

I do.

In fact, I’ve got a price-is-right package of five of the twin-blade beauties in my bathroom vanity (top drawer on the right, if you’re looking). You know, for travelling and camping and when I can’t be bothered to haul out the electric shaver… and anyway, are electric-sucking appliances that much of an improvement over disposables?

But… sorry… fuzzy pits are for peaches, my dear!

Saints Preserve Us, Is that a Guilt-Free Razor I see?!

environmentally friendly recyclable razor
Ah, now here’s Recycline’s new patent-pending Preserve™ Razor, to take away the guilt! It’s got the replaceable twin blades like those made-for-a-man drugstore specials, but this one is all kind of cute and ergonomic and curvy…

The main point is, however, that the whole razor handle is made of 100% recycled plastic, largely from recycled yogurt containers. Replace the blades again and again — just squeeze the handle to pop the blade unit in and out — and when the handle’s useful life is eventually over, it’s fully recyclable. Not tested on animals.

Let’s tag this, oh, .
