Bread dough after it's risen, but before it's baked (that yeasty smell). Must. Old books. Warm leather (not the sharp leather like in biker jackets). My parents' bedroom (a combination of their natural skin scent and feathers from the pillows). Sun dried fabric.

And I'm totally with delia with the autumn leaves.

I am with you 100% on this one. Smelling like comfort is totally lame. What I want is "lilac and uncomfortable silence" or "cinnamon and walking in on your parents."

Ahh, and lilacs, old (heirloom) roses. You've already mentioned bread baking.

An unusual one for me is hard (iron) water. I'll get a whiff of it and it takes me back home to my summer on Lake Huron. Yes, I'm weird.

An interesting tale about Febreze:

My dog has no clue that those black furry animals with a white stripe aren't something to play with, so she often gets skunked. I have a contact allergy to tomatoes, so went to the drug store trying to find something to replace it. The pharmacist recommended Febreze.

Well, I tried it, it didn't work. All she smelled like afterward was a skunky dog with a "hint of ocean breeze."

My vet said use vinegar. So now when she gets skunked, she smells like an salad. :D
