When the weather is really hot and sticky, it seems there’s nothing more refreshing than cold iced tea.
Here’s my absolutely best recipe for iced tea – lovely lovely restorative iced tea – with lemon and honey.
This simple recipe was given to me by an elderly lady (your apple-cheeked white-haired Granny type, beautiful woman) who never touched a grain of refined sugar in her long healthy life. Mind you, her hubby kept honeybees, so she practically had a pipeline to the sweet stuff.
Summer Iced Tea
Ingredients
- 4 cups freshly brewed tea
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- lemon slices for garnish
Directions
Combine all ingredients in a glass or ceramic jug and chill well.
Serve in tall chilled glasses, garnished with lemon slices.
Ta-dah!
When you make ice tea with with honey, the way our beekeeper friends do, it doesn’t have that weird aftertaste you can sometimes get if you use refined white sugar to make a chilled beverage. So you tell yourself that you’re doing good things for your bikini-clad bod, while you sit back and sip and watch the summer sun drift toward the horizon, sigh.
