I say, just park all the young’uns on a cluster of happy-coloured floor cushions, and let them sprawl in comfort!

Auto has a great selection of cubes and poufs and floor cushions and beanbags — lots to mix and match — including my favourites, these Dahlia Rainbow floor cushions from the Missoni Garden Collection.

Is it just me, or do these remind you of a 1960s hatbox?

The 100% acrylic covers are removable for cleaning, which I think you’ll agree is pretty much essential in fabric furnishing that you put on the floor!

What I like best about these, however — besides the fab mod prints — is a structured shape that means tidy stacking for storage when the cushions aren’t in use, and that handy patent leather handle for toting them about as needed.

Imagine — it’s 1927, and newsboys are shouting the word on the street: Charles Lindbergh has mastered the impossible. In that frail aircraft, the Spirit of St. Louis, he made the first non-stop solo trans-Atlantic flight…

Got a vintage 1920s home, lovingly restored to reflect that breathless era of glamour, adventure and invention?

The period home deserves more than a mod iPod dock on the side table to pump out your mood music, or even a discreet black box with speakers.

Posh Prezzies’ Spirit of St. Louis collection of home technology products is crafted to replicate the style of Lindbergh-era gadgets, all fascinating knobs and shiny dials and rich wood details.

Each CD player or clock radio in the collection is an evocation of the Golden Age of romance — when Old Hollywood reigned — when luxury ocean liners and velvet-cushioned ralway cars were the height of travel style — and when a human voice carried across the airwaves was still as miraculous as man’s ability to take flight across the Atlantic.

The trinket box treasure hunt has yielded another lovely little box [via Helen and Beadwork magazine ], this retro styled box, hand beaded, by Theresa A. Gozeski of Massachusetts, USA.

I’m quite taken with the turqoise and coral colour scheme, which is so reminiscent of the 1920s while the seed beads whisper of Victoriana…

It’s an original beadcharmed design (‘Terracina’) — a wooden box gloriously embellished with glass seed beads, a Style Stone oval, a wood rectangle, leaf findings, four vintage coral floral cabs, and two vintage glass floral cabs. Whew!

Named and dated by the artist, this trinket box is sturdy enough to be truly useful, and lovely enough to be passed down as a treasured heirloom to the beadwork lovers of a future generation.
