The Art of the Earth Goddess

There’s something restful and reassuring about the archetypal Earth-Mother figure, regardless of your faith or the specifics of your spirituality. Perhaps it has to do with motherhood and security?

Blessing Goddess pottery statue by Veronica StewartAll I know is, I stumbled across the gently rounded forms of these terra cotta goddess figures by Veronica Stewart and wanted to reach right through the computer screen to touch them!

She creates a range of goddess images in clay and silver (jewellery), but it’s the pottery blessings sculptures that attract me the most — like this lovely womanly little figure with a lap full of flowers.
