Veggie Garden Hooked Rug

by Domestik Goddess on February 6, 2007

Gardeners will love this light-hearted hand-hooked vegetable garden rug, 7′9″ square, hand-hooked in 100% wool with a unique fruit and vegetable motif. See the whimsical seed packets, so unexpected?

Found it at Overstock.com, marked down 70% to $209.99. And it’s good to find a square rug, which can be scarce as hen’s teeth…

But what really makes this particular rug so attractive to me is the classic black background, which gives the subtle colours of the pattern a gentle glow and “anchors” the piece.

It’ll fit in nicely with almost any style of decor, but I’d love to use this in quite a formal living room as a counterpoint to more “serious” furnishings in textured solids and shadow-stripes or small-scale geometrics, perhaps picking up that soft butter yellow for the walls or drapes.
