I know how to make jack-o-lanterns (carved pumpkins) last longer, Candy, but my guess is that watermelons contain too much water to do much more -- once they're cut open -- than have fun carving, admire them as a special table centrepiece (summer wedding idea?) for a few hours, then dive in and eat up! Or freeze your watermelon and drink it, maybe!

Amazing - I've never seen this before! Although unfortunately I wager they'll last only a few days? Wonder if there is some way to dry or preserve them.... seems a shame to have them go to waste (or perhaps the artist eats the watermelon after they're done carving it?!? :-)

Oh hey, but spitting's not gentlemanly (except possibly at waste-basket targets). You surprise me, Malcolm!

What cool pix. I like looking at them, but it makes me tired thinking of the hours of work it must take to create them. I think I'll stick with eating watermellon on the front porch and spitting the seeds at people on the sidewalk.
