What I Did On March Break » flexible plastic vases with tissue paper flowers
My young friend Kelly has been fascinated by the flexible plastic Wondervase that I’d received for a Christmas present, and one of her big priorities for March break activities was to play with them! (They come out of the package looking like plastic bags, and you put warm water into them. The heat makes the vases flexible, so they can be bent and twisted and folded into interesting shapes. When the vases cool down, they hold that new shape.) We had wondered if we could make the two vases “hug each other”… so that’s what we did here. And what’s a vase without flowers? With the garden still buried under snow and not a bloom in the house, nothing would do but to dig out some craft supplies and make a tissue-paper bouquet. The stems could have been longer, for these vases, but Kelly was well pleased with the results and we had a great time doing it!

what a wonderful idea - where do you get them from. Are the vases waterproof? maybee I could look into trialing them for our florists business.
Hi there, MH Florists - thanks for the visit!
Yes, these vases are waterproof - in fact, you use warm water to make them flexible, then cool water to make them hold the shape. Those are water drops you can see in the vases in the picture, in fact. (Kelly and I just used tissue paper flowers because it was the middle of winter, so nothing in the garden to be picked!) You can get the vases at Amazon; they’re called the Wonder Vase - Travel Collapsible Vase.
I think they’d be perfect for people taking flowers to someone in hospital, instead of a conventional ceramic vase - less for the patient to worry about carrying home when they’re released from hospital. Same thing if you’re visiting in a nursing home, or even a hostess gift for someone with a small apartment!
