In a spur-of-the-moment craft spree, my young friend Kelly and I made these tissue-paper flowers with bits and pieces of whatever we could find in the cupboards. To make the tissue-paper flowers, we cut rough squares of paper about 3 or 4 inches in size, rolled one around a wire twist-tie to make the centre of the “rose” and then layered other pieces around the outside, holding them in place with bits of sticky tape. Kelly glued two popsicle sticks end-to-end to make each stem, and Kelly painted them green with my tole paints. Then we wound the end of the wire twist-tie around this, securing it with a bit more tape.
