Cookbook for cancer researchOctober is more than pumpkins and treats, it’s Breast Cancer Awareness month. How many of us have been touched in some way, how many of us have even lost someone unspeakably precious due to breast cancer?

For my best friend Jane, and in her beloved memory, I want to encourage every woman to make a donation to cancer research this month.

And if you are unable to make a straightforward donation, please consider doing some of your holiday gift shopping with a company that supports breast cancer research with a portion of its profits.

For Jane — and for the dear son she left behind — over the next few weeks I’m going to be highlighting some of the “Shop Pink Ribbon” opportunities that I come across.

Let’s start with the well-reviewed cookbook, In Great Taste — Fresh, Simple Recipes for Eating and Living Well by Evelyn Lauder.

Eat well, live well — what could be better?

All (100% all!) of the author’s royalties from the sale of this book will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

I think I should have called this post something like “Eat Well, Do Good” but that has an eerie ring of familiarity to it… I’ve noticed that a lot of charitable thingies don’t bear very close scrutiny about what amount of money is actually going to the cause, so that’s why I wanted to highlight some of the products/projects where it really goes “above and beyond” to help in the pink ribbon cause.

    We all know someone, right?

And hi Sharon, yes, you’re right on, I’ve had Gremlins in my blog, lately, and just found out about it… and here I thought that no one was reading any more! (Well, no, I didn’t really think that, but… nice to know why I wasn’t getting any feedback!)

Wow, it’s really great that all the royalties go to the research foundation. This is the perfect way to contribute and make a difference. Who doesn’t love food and recipes!
